William Elmore (W. E.) Brackett, 86, of Midland, passed away in a Big Spring hospital on Saturday, October 6, 2001. At his request, his body has been donated to the Texas Tech School of Medicine in Lubbock, and there will be no services. Mr. Brackett was born September 23, 1915 in Justin, Texas and was reared and educated near Austin, Texas. He was married to Iris Copeland on April 20, 1940 in Mason, Texas. They moved to San Angelo in 1947. He was a member of Lake View Baptist Church. He worked for many years as an insulator for Smith Insulation and Crouch Heating and Air Conditioning before retiring. In 1999 they moved to Midland, and for the past six months he had been a resident of the Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. Survivors include his wife, Iris Brackett of Midland; two daughters, Beverly Scott and husband, Doug, of Midland, and Barbara Kingston and husband, Jim, of Odessa; six grandchildren, Carla Scott Fourqurean and husband, Steve, of Midland, Curt Scott of Odessa, Ronnie Anderson of Dallas, Ricky Anderson and wife, Jamie, of Theodore, Alabama, Lyle Kingston and wife, Lori, of Dallas, and Sonia Koopman and husband, Cliff, of San Antonio; four great-grandchildren, Davis and Ellie Fourqurean of Midland and Erin and Nicole Anderson of Theodore, Alabama; and three nephews, Carl Greenhaw of San Angelo, Eddie Tinney of Nemo and Billy Middleton of Killeen.
