Hazel McMurray McElreath

Hazel McMurray McElreath, 94, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at her residence. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, June 30, 2000, at the Trinity Baptist Church with, Dr. Claude Craven, retired Baptist minister and Dr. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. She was born on February 13, 1906 in Hillsboro, Texas and married Henry Dewey McElreath on October 14, 1924 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death on November 1, 1976. Mrs. McElreath was a lifetime resident of Howard County. She loved fishing, camping and gardening. She also loved quilting and had made many quilts for her family. She had been a member of Trinity Baptist Church since 1954 and had worked in the nursery for 24 years. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Henry and Palma McElreath of Andrews, Festus and Lois McElreath of Big Spring, Donald and Pat McElreath of Hurst, David and Vickie McElreath of Longmont, Colorado and H. D. and Sandra McElreath of Arlington; a daughter, Ona Mae Hall of Hurst; two brothers, Bill McMurray of Sand Springs and Henry McMurray of Dallas; five sisters, Lena Maxwell of Grand Prairie, Inez Spinks and Thelma McMurray both of Big Spring and Tiny Robertson and Lorene Wallace both of Odessa; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth,
