“And if I go prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, you may be also”. Wade Anderson Mitchell was received into our Heavenly Fathers Kingdom February 9, 2016 after a brief illness. Wade was born September 18, 1932 to Robert Allen Mitchell and Stella Thenia Mitchell in Marlow, OK.Wade’s faith in Christ led him to the church home of Fairmont Park Church of Christ where he taught Sunday school for various age groups from youth to adults. He was respected and admired by so many and his kind heart touched everyone who had the honor of knowing him. His love of country led him to the Army in 1953 where he served as a radar technician and instructor in Germany while bravely upholding the honor of the United States of America in the Korean War.He married on April 24, 1954 the love of his life for the last 62 years Ruby (Ratliff) Mitchell in Andrews, TX, where he had been raised and graduated from high school in 1950.Wade had many varied interests including his ability to grow and cultivate an array of plants and flowers, this unique gift of a green thumb is felt throughout his home and will always be a constant reminder of his presence. Wade’s love of sports led him to Cisco College on a football scholarship graduating with a degree in Literature. This passion for football and all things sports stayed with him throughout his life, and he passed this love of sports to his children as evident as they grew older. Many discussions, laughter, and even a few family competitions were held with a golf club in hand while playing “family tournaments” with his oldest son and grandsons. Throughout his 50 years of service in the communication industry in Midland, he not only shared his knowledge of communications, but shared his friendship with various members of our community. Included in these friendships were so many outstanding men that he took great pride in recalling them as either cub scouts and/or boy scouts that were a part of his troop in his dedicated years as scout leader.“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you.
