Trevino E. Tapia, 65, of Big Spring, died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at his residence. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.A prayer vigil will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.Trevino was born February 2, 1950 in Vaughn, New Mexico and married Sandra D'Aville January 5, 2001, in Bridgeton, New Jersey. Trevino was a loving husband, father and grandfather and faithful member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and retired as the Associate Warden of the Federal Prison System in Big Spring, and then worked for GEO Prison System resigning as an Associate Warden. He served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer and was on the personal protection detail and driver for General Omar Bradley, the last five-star general.He is survived by his wife, Sandra Tapia of Big Spring; one daughter, Monica Garciasalas and husband, Henry of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one son, Patrick Tapia and wife, Renee of El Paso; two step-daughters, Dione Nelson of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Heather Guillory and husband, Landry of Algiers, Louisiana; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Marquez, Rosie Keaton, and Adela Tapia; four brothers, Fernando Tapia, Ramon Tapia, George Tapia, Tony Apodaca; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Maria Tapia; one brother, John Tapia; and one sister, Connie Tapia.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
