Glenda Sue Daman, 80, of Midland, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 surrounded by her family. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 2:30 pm at Golf Course Road Church of Christ with Tod Brown officiating.
Glenda was born on May 13, 1937 to Thelma and Delma Smith in Chandler, OK. She attended elementary through high school in Chandler, Ok graduating in 1955. She attended the Central State University in Edmond, now UCO for 2 years where she met her future husband., Gordon Daman. They were married on December 21, 1958 and had 52 wonderful years together. A daughter and two sons were born to their union.
She was a stay at home mom while living in Midwest City, Ok and Del City, Ok. In July 1976, Glenda and Gordon moved their family to Midland to open the first Sonic Drive In at 2310 N. Big Spring St.
She is survived by her children, Geri, Gordon Jr. and wife Tobi, and Greg and wife Antonia, grandchildren, Raylee and Emma Daman, Gisel, Humberto and Abiel Rodriguez and 9 great grandchildren, all of Midland; sister, Charlotte Fox of Midwest City OK; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband, Gordon “Mr. Sonic” Daman, parents, Delma and Thelma Smith, and sisters, Freida Porter and Carolyn Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Lira, Mike Dunham, Bill Mann, Jose Leyva, Jose Lopez, Humberto Rodriguez and Abiel Rodriguez. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to Children’s Miracle Network, Hospice Midland or Midland Christian School.
