Ruby Maxine West, 85, of Midland, died on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel, with Rev. Jan Reed, Hospice Chaplain, officiating. She was born on September 24, 1924, in Checotah, Oklahoma and married Ivan Harland West on November 2, 1945, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in June of 1984 Ruby enjoyed playing games, especially cards and Bingo, and loved to travel. She loved spending time with her granddaughters, family and friends. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Martin and husband Mark of Midland; and two grandchildren, Ashley & Katy Martin of Lubbock. She was also preceded in death by her mother Olive Cook Bear, father Wilson Bear, two sisters Ruth Toney and Violet Chronister. Ruby moved to Midland six years ago and lived at Santa Rita Retirement Village where she made wonderful friendships with all the residents. Her group of friends checked on each other and helped each other in time of need. Ruby loved Midland and said the people were so friendly. We want to thank the wonderful people of Allison Cancer Center and Legends Healthcare, Dr. P.K. Patel, Alisha and Hospice of Midland.
