Rosa Rivera, 89, of Big Spring, passed February 7, 2019 at her home surrounded by family. She started her new journey and reunited with loved ones gone before her; her husband of 63 years, Jose “Lupe” Rivera; her parents, Gavino and Claudina Corpus; a brother, Samuel Corpus; 3 sisters, Gregoria Garza, Sofia Cernes, and Maria Mendez; a grandson, Chris Rivera; and 3 great-granddaughters, Selena Jennings, Mallbry York, and Haley York.A prayer vigil will be 7:00 PM, Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. Pallbearers are David Rivera, Jr., David Garten, Jr., Mark Hunt, Jose Luis Rivera, Luis Bella, and Tony Rivera.Rosa was born August 2, 1929 in Yorktown, Texas. She grew up in the farming communities of Stockdale, Yorktown, Floresville, Sinton, and many more before moving to Lamesa. She met and married Jose Rivera December 2, 1951. They moved to Big Spring in 1955. She worked at many places around town. Rosa made many friends while working as a domestic housekeeper, which helped her learn the English language. She also worked at Webb Air Force Base until its closing, then worked at Big Spring State Hospital, retiring in 1993.Rosita, as affectionally called by many, loved quilting, bingo, and cooking her tamales, while listening to the radio. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.Leaving to cherish memories are 5 children, David Rivera and wife, Mary of Big Spring, Daniel Rivera and wife, Mary of El Paso, Delia Garten and husband, David of Odessa, Luis Rivera of Big Spring, and Mary Watkins and husband, Terry of Big Spring; a brother, Enrique Corpus of Apple Valley, California; special loves, Pablo Corpus, Petra Tovar and Simona Mendez; numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and 2 fur-babies, T-Bone and Chica.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.
