Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.She was born February 22, 1924 in Howard County to Lewis and Veda Walker McKee and married William E. “Jack” Shaffer December 14, 1940 in Big Spring. He preceded her in death June 26, 1999.Rachel worked for the Big Spring Police Department for five years before working for the Howard County Sheriff’s Office for 20 years under the reign of Sheriff A. N. Standard.She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and working crossword puzzles, but mostly loved her family and church.Survivors include one son, Phillip Shaffer and wife, Tracy of Denison; one daughter, Phyllis Turney and husband, Jeff of Midland; one granddaughter, Amanda Powell and husband, Jarod of Midland; six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Lincoln and Zoey Arterberry and Cooper, Jaxon and Kamrynn Powell; five sisters, Delores Andrews and husband, Ray of Odessa, Jennie Shaw and husband, Ronald of Smyer, Karen Murphy of Granbury, Sue Whitaker of San Angelo and Neva Shaffer of Big Spring; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Raymond McKee; two sisters, Frances Thomas and Mary Eggleston.The family suggests memorials to Trinity Baptist Church Mission Fund, 1701 E.
