O. B. Kirby, 84, a former resident of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2001, in an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 7, 2001, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Royce Clay, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. Mr. Kirby was born on March 26, 1917 in Terral, Oklahoma to O.E. and Vestal Kirby. He married Marvel Weatherly on October 30, 1937 in Ryan, Oklahoma. They moved to Big Spring in November of 1941. During World War II, he worked for the railroad and in 1947, they opened their own dry cleaners which they operated for 46 years. They moved to Abilene in 1997. For many years, Mr. Kirby had been a member of 14th and Main Street Church of Christ and had served as a deacon in the church. Survivors include his wife, Marvel Kirby of Abilene; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janace and Royce Scott of Abilene and Lynda and Larry McDonald of Granbury; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Valyncia Kirby of Stanton; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.,
