Mary Louise Gilmour, 85, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Seabury Center in Odessa where she had been a resident for more than 16 years. Mary was born to Frances and William Gilmour on March 20, 1916 in Big Spring, Texas. She attended public schools in Big Spring, graduating in 1933 with honors. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Pep Squad. Mary joined the Order of Eastern Star at age 18 in Big Spring and was active in Order of Eastern Star in Odessa for many years. Mary worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone and for several years she worked as a Girl Scout executive. She worked in the accounting department for Shell Oil Company in Midland and for Texas Electric Service Company in Big Spring. Mary attended college in later years, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1953 from the University of Texas in Austin where she graduated with honors. She earned a Master of Business Administration from Texas Tech University in Lubbock in 1956 and did additional graduate work in Colorado and Wyoming. Mary moved to Odessa where she taught accounting for 22 years at Odessa College. Ms. Gilmour was a member of the Business and Professional Womens Association, was past president of the American Association of University Women and in 1985 was awarded a Certificate of Honor for Outstanding Service by the local chapter. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and the Retired Teachers Association and was very active in Odessa Civic and Social activities. Mary was a member of St. Barnabas' Episcopal Church in Odessa since 1956. She was active in St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Big Spring for thirty years. Graveside funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, April 9, 2001, at Mt. Olive Memorial Park in Big Spring with The Rev. Jim Liggett, Rector of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Big Spring, officiating. A memorial service will be held at St. Barnabas' Episcopal Church in Odessa at 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 10, 2001, with The Rev. Michael Jasper, Rector, officiating. Assisting will be Judy Cobb, Deacon. Mary is survived by a cousin, Erma L. Thompson of Williamsville, New York; her longtime caregiver, Dorothy Presley and by many friends. Special thanks are given to the staff and attendants at Seabury Center for their loving care of Mary these past 16 years and to Home Hospice staff and nurses for their loving care and consolation. Also we are grateful for the dedication of the Lay Visitors of St. Barnabas' and St. John's Episcopal Church who were faithful in their support. In lieu of flowers it is suggested that memorials be made to the Building Fund of St. Barnabas' Episcopal Church, 4141 Tanglewood, Odessa, Texas 79762-7224.
