Laverne Wegman Barr, 93, of Midland, died Sunday, December 16, 2018 at her residence. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Pastor Don Rosentreter officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.She was born April 26, 1925 in Martin County, Texas to J. R. and Elizabeth Walker Marshall, and married Ted Wegman April 15, 1949. He preceded her in death in March 1961.Laverne graduated from Big Spring High School. She worked for Sears, retiring after 25 years of service. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles and going to water aerobics.She was a longtime member of Bellview Baptist Church in Midland.Survivors include three children, Terry Wegman and wife Debbie of Big Spring, Cindy Stevenson and husband, Mark of Katy, and Tim Wegman of Midland; one step-daughter, Theodora Rocke and husband, Ken of Cypress, California; four grandchildren, Colby Wegman and wife, Courtney, Drew Wegman and wife, Britt, Ryan Wegman and wife, Denielle, and Peyton Stevenson; six great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jimmy N. Marshall.The family suggests memorials to Bellview Baptist Church, 1710 N. Big Spring St., Midland, Texas 79701 or to a favorite charity.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory in Big Spring.
