Kathryn (Kay) Burns, 79, of Big Spring, died peacefully at Midland Memorial Hospital onThursday, April 23, 2020.Born on December 17, 1940, in Gorman, Texas, Kay grew up in west Texas and graduatedfrom Andrews High School. She married Wayne Burns when they eloped to Las Vegas afteronly dating for 3 months. They had two daughters and were together for 49 years. Kayparticipated in many Big Spring activities—most notably St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and theHoward County Democrats. She will be greatly missed by family and friends who will neverforget the energy she brought to any event—she was the fun, crazy, life of the party who lovedto take center stage. Having lived in Big Spring for so long, she had many wonderful cohortswho encouraged and relished her vivacious ways.Survivors include her two daughters, Alyssa Cerney of New York and Andrea (Andi) Eggers ofCalifornia, as well as two grandchildren of California, Hunter and Emily Eggers; her brother,Gary (Barney) Hise of Big Spring, and her 2 nieces and nephew.
