Janie Swafford, 52, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, March 3, 2002, in an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Kevin Parker, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. She was born on December 9, 1949 in El Paso, Texas and married Raymond Swafford on December 31, 1977 in El Paso, Texas. Janie came to Big Spring in 1979 from El Paso. She had worked for Big Spring ISD since 1982 and had been a teacher since 1986. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. Survivors include her husband, Raymond Swafford of Big Spring; one daughter, Cheyenne Rainer of Lubbock; one son, Cash Swafford of Azle; two brothers, Jack Begley of Merced, California and Noah Begley of Mansfield; one sister, Sharon Conyers of Joshua; and two grandchildren, Kenley Edwards and Kaileigh Edwards. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, 3205 W. Cuthbert, Ste A-8, Midland, Texas 79701.
