James E. (Jimmy) Felts, 94, of Midland, formerly of Big Spring, died on Saturday, July 28, 2001, in a Midland nursing home. Masonic graveside rites will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Mt. Olive Memorial Park in Big Spring. He was born on September 16, 1906 in Melbourne, Arkansas and married Connie Mae Williamson on June 25, 1924 in Heber Springs, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on June 30, 1981. Jimmy came to Big Spring in 1945. He worked for McEwen Motor Co., Jack Lewis Buick and Cadillac, and Pollard Chevrolet, retiring in the 1980's. He moved to Midland in 1990. He was an avid fisherman and sportsman. He was a Baptist. He had been a member of Woodmen of America since 1923 and the Masonic Lodge since 1929. He served as co- hairman and chairman of Texas Public School Week in Big Spring from 1962 to 1971 for the Big Spring Masonic Lodge and served as co-chairman of the Quarterback Club for the Big Spring Steers from 1961 to 1963. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Dave Dorchester of Midland; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Nancy Felts of Comanche; 4 grandchildren, Diana Barker and husband, Danny, of Midland, Brian Dorchester and wife, Kathy, of Fort Worth, Bruce Felts and wife, Tami, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Farrel Felts and wife, Nancy, of Gainesville; 12 great-grandchildren, Kasey, Dustin, Drew and Dylan Barker, Ashley and Blake Felts, Scott Felts, Carrie Green, Kimberly Clements, Shanna Bartlett, and Shelby and Austin Dorchester; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Cole Green and Kayla Clements. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Annette Felts Laraby. The family suggests memorials to: Hospice of Midland, 911 West Texas, Midland, Texas 79702.
