Iris (Copeland) Brackett passed to her heavenly home on January 21, 2019 at the age of 100. She was born June 3, 1918 in Richland Springs, Texas and was the youngest of 7 children born to N.A. and Delia (Palmer) Copeland.Iris graduated Brady High School and married William E. (W.E.) Brackett in 1940. They moved to San Angelo, Texas where they raised their two children. They moved to Midland in 2000 and were married 61 years at W.E.’s passing in 2001.A faithful member of San Angelo Lake View Baptist Church for over 60 years, Mom was a strong Christian, believing in Jesus as her Savior. She was a constant source of strength for family and friends. She taught us much about loyalty, honesty, morality and hard work.Mom dearly loved and supported her family, and her life was full of service to others. She was always available to help anyone in need. She felt privileged to care for aging or needy family members. She was a great listener, and she was gifted with giving sound advice, reasoning and logic. Although Mom never completed degrees in nursing, teaching or counseling, she definitely used her talents and gifts in those areas.Mom was an excellent seamstress and a wonderful cook. She enjoyed canning and sharing the fruits and vegetables from her gardens over the years.Although a journey with dementia eventually robbed Mom of her memories of family, friends and events in her life, she always remembered her daughters. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Barbara Brackett Kingston; her parents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Doug Scott of Midland; son-in-law, James Kingston; 6 grandchildren, Ronnie, Ricky, Lyle (Lori), Sonia, Carla (Dean) and Curt (Melissa); 8 great-grandchildren, Erin and Nicole, Hayley and Hunter, Davis, Ellie, Dallas and Bailey; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Blaikley and Paislee.A private family service was held.Memorial contributions may be directed to the Billy Graham Association or Gideons International.Arrangements were under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
