Ida Lou Husband Jones, 80, of Midland, Texas, entered her heavenly home on December 23, 2012. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Friday, December 28, 2012 at First Assembly of God Church, 100 West Wadley Ave, Midland, with Rev. Mike Hanks, son-in-law, Rev. Russ Lambert, grandson, and Rev. Ryan Pate, grand son-in-law officiating. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Odessa, Texas with Rev. Dalton Froman, officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, 3800 North Big Spring Street, in Midland. The second oldest of nine children, Ida was born May 6, 1932, in a log house in Call, Texas, to the late Earnest Husband and Jessie Estelle Baker Husband. She graduated from White Oak High School, in White Oak, Texas, in 1952, and attended Kilgore Junior College. She became employed by Western Union and was transferred to Odessa, where she met and then married her husband, Dewey Windol Jones, on February 28, 1953. They made their home and raised their family in Odessa. Married for 40 years, Dewey preceded her in death in March 1993. Also preceding her in death are two brothers, Paul LaRue Husband and David Husband.Ida leaves behind a wonderful legacy and a priceless Godly heritage for her loved ones. Having accepted Jesus as Lord at nine years of age, her love for her Savior was reflected in all she did, whether caring for her home and family as a devoted wife and mother, or faithfully serving in her church and community. A woman of strong faith, Ida believed in the power of prayer and made praying for her family and others a priority in her life. She was also a life-long student of the Bible and through the years shared her passion for the Word of God as a teacher of various adult and childrens Christian Education classes, Childrens Church and Vacation Bible School. Ida also had a longtime love for and involvement in the Assemblies of God Womens Ministries, and served several years as the WM Representative for the West Texas District of the Assemblies of God. She was an avid reader and could usually be found with bookmarks in several different books at any given time. Hobbies included sewing and quilting and she also enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She was the wonderful Mom of two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Jim Lambert, of Waco, and Sandi and Mike Hanks, of Midland, and one son and daughter-in-law, Dee and Kathy Jones, of Odessa. A loving Memaw of six grandchildren, Russell Lambert and wife, Jaci, of Cedar Park, Misti Cannon and husband, Jason, of Liberty, Cari Pate and husband, Ryan, of Muleshoe, Angela Litke, and husband, Josh, of Midlothian, Eric Jones and fianc, Tara Wright, of Galveston and Jason Jones, and wife Ashley, of Katy. She was also the special great grandmother of 15 great grandchildren. Beloved sister of two brothers, Earnest Husband, of Odessa and James Husband, of Longview; four sisters, Polly Woods, of White Oak, Wanda Bluhm, of Newville, Pennsylvania, Paula Monse, of Longview and Matilda Brown, of Houston. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and countless other cherished friends and loved ones.The family wishes to thank Dr. Manny Mangat and all of the wonderful nurses, PCAs and support staff at Midland Memorial Hospital, along with Dr. Robert Vogel and the caring staff of Hospice of Midland, whose professional and compassionate care made a difficult time a little easier.
