Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Park.1921, a year during the time journalist Tom Brokaw named “The Greatest Generation,” because this generation not only survived the great depression, but also WWII. Two words from this historical fact stand out to me today. Greatest and survived. From the greatest times must come the greatest people. On Thursday, November 17, 1921 the greatest (literally, as we had 5 generations making her great-great) of us was born to Victor and Luz Dominguez.Gregoria Dominguez Flores was one of eleven children. Her siblings were Carmen Alvarado, Arcadia Flores, Felipe Dominguez, Trinedad Garcia, Lucia Flores, Fidel Dominguez, Gregoria Dominguez, Victor Dominguez Jr., Rodolfo Dominguez and Rosa Hernandez, all of whom she joined in heaven on January 4, 2019.Gregoria, known as Golla to many, and Mama and Wela to us, lived a fruitful life. She was born in Marfa, TX and later moved to Big Spring. She married Luven Flores and together they had three children, Yolanda, Luven Jr. and Oscar. Her children describe her as perfect, unconditional and a hero. She dedicated her life to working and providing for her children. One of her greatest achievements as a mother was watching her three children graduate high school. Everyone that entered her home instantly became family and were welcomed with warm hugs and full plates. She was known as mama to more than just her immediate family. Her mothering nature even spilled over unto her pets.In addition to her three children, she is survived by three grandchildren Christian Fair, Timothy Garrett, and Emily Luz Flores; five great-grandchildren Sydney Beall and her husband, Stuart, Jordan Fair, Gabrielle Fair, Jasiah Flores and Nathaniel “Feliz” Flores; and two great-great grandchildren Paige Beall and Carter Beall, as well as her kitty, Cry. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband Luven Flores Sr. and daughter-in-law Elice Flores.Gregoria was committed to her Christian faith and Catholic church. In everything she did she put her Lord first with a rosary in hand. Gregoria was a pilar of Sacred Heart Catholic Church until its closure, then becoming a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Guadalupanas and Crucillistas.Gregoria set the foundation of love and faith for her family. Through her lifetime experiences, she overcame and survived everything that life presented her. We, her children, grand-children, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren have been honored and blessed to share moments and memories of her 97 years. Gregoria has set the example for all of us and she will forever be remembered in our hearts as the idea of perfection, for her loving affection, for her amazing devotion to her family and simply for being the Greatest.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.
