Bair, George W., 80, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, January 10, 2001, in a Lubbockhospital. Graveside funeral services will be at 4:30 PM Saturday, January 13, 2001, at Peace Chapel in Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Walter Lee, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Coahoma, officiating. He was born on May 25, 1920 in Berryville, Arkansas and married Frankie Blackburn on October 5, 1939 in Ada, Oklahoma. Mr. Bair served in the United States Army during World War II as a Lieutenant in the Infantry serving in the Aleutian Islands. He came to Big Spring in 1950 and established and operated the General Welding Supply until retiring in 1975. After retiring they moved to the ranch south of Sweetwater then returned to big Spring in 1998. He was a member of Staked Plains Lodge #598 A.F. & A.M., also belonged to the Hilton Masonic Lodge in Blackwell and had served as Past Master. He later joined the Sweetwater Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Suez Shrine Temple and had served as Potentate in 1973. He was a member and 32nd Degree Mason of Lubbock Scottish Rite. He was active in the DeMolay Chapter and in the Boy Scouts. He was a Presbyterian. Survivors include his wife, Frankie Bair of Big Spring; a son, Max Bair of Sand Springs; a daughter, Judy Bair of Boulder, Colorado; two sisters, Frances Myatt of Annapolis, Maryland and Exilee Adamo of Florida, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
