Eli Cantu, Jr. 54, died Monday, September 16, 2019 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

The family received friends from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Curry Funeral Home in Tennessee. Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton.

He was born July 7, 1965, in Big Spring to Ofelia Cantu and the late Eli Cantu, Sr. He was a correctional officer at the Dyer County Sheriff’s Department. Eli was known as the “Big Man with the Big Smile” and was loved by everyone whose lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Emma Cantu; one son, Charles Brown (Charlotte) of Milan; his mother, Ofelia Cantu; two sisters, Melissa “Molly” Cantu and Josie Cantu; one brother, John Erik Cantu, all of Stanton; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elias Cantu, Sr.
