Effie McKee

Effie McKee, 96, of Lubbock, formerly of Big Spring, died on Saturday, November 11, 2006, in a Lubbock nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring with Rev. Shon Wagoner, pastor of Redbud Baptist Church in Lubbock, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.She was born on March 29, 1910, in Falls County, Texas and married Carl Preston McKee on November 29, 1928 in Vealmoor, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1975.Mrs. McKee had lived in the Vealmoor community for over 50 years. She moved to Planview in 1980 and returned to Big Spring in 1991. She was a homemaker and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Big Spring. .Survivors include one daughter & son-in-law, Geneva and Alan "Skinny" Higgins of Lubbock; one son, Carl "Pete" McKee of Friona; one brother and sister-in-law, Amos and Eugina Kay of Temple; a sister, Julia Lee Hunt of Houston; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Grady Higgins on August 19, 1982.
