Donald Keith Ballantyne, 88, of Midland, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Lamoni, Iowa.Keith was born on November 7, 1930, to Francis Helen and Murl Robert Ballantyne in Lamoni, Iowa.Keith grew up on a turkey farm and hatchery in Lamoni, Iowa. He lived there and attended college but his education was interrupted by the Korean War when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served four years as a Master Sgt. in the Air Force Security Service, stationed in Germany. Upon discharge, Keith attended and graduated from Iowa State with an Ag Journalism degree. Upon his graduation, he began his 38 year career with Hess & Clark, a feed products company for farm animals, in Ashland, Ohio. There he had many successful positions, the last one as Marketing and Regulatory Affairs Manager.He and his childhood sweetheart, Betty Ann Todd, were married in Lamoni, Iowa in 1951, just prior to his enlistment to the Korean War. In 1958, they had one son, Clark, and in 1961 another son, Robert, who died at birth. Over the 68 years of marriage their life was full of traveling, gardening, photography, and card games with family and friends. Keith especially enjoyed Iowa State football, golf, swimming, fishing and hunting and telling corny jokes. In addition, Keith was an ordained minister for over 50 years in the Community of Christ Church where he served as a High Priest.He is survived by the love of his life, Betty Ann Ballantyne, son, Clark and wife, Diana Ballantyne, sister, Carolyn Higginbothum, brother, Roger Ballantyne, grandchildren, Krista Ballantyne, Jared Ballantyne, Ryan and BJ Hoover and Jennifer Hoover. Also two great grandsons, Brayden Hoover and Aidric Hoover.He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis Helen and Murl Robert Ballantyne, brother Rollin and son Robert.Keith will be missed by all that knew him.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
