Dearl Dean Pittman, 86, of De Leon, left this world February 3, 2019, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born September 3, 1932, in Gorman, Texas to Henry Reeves Pittman and Tennie Vinson Pittman. Dearl married Frances “Nadine” Maxwell Pittman December 15, 1953 in De Leon, Texas.

Dearl graduated Valedictorian from Gorman High School. He proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1955. Dearl began his career with Pioneer Natural Gas as a meter reader in Midland, and worked his way up to District Manager and was transferred to Big Spring, Texas. He retired from ENERGAS in 1987 at which time Dearl and Nadine returned to the family home place in Rucker, Texas, where he lived until his death.

Dearl was cited for numerous contributions made for the betterment of the community of Big Spring. He was very active with the Big Spring Chamber of Commerce and YMCA. Dearl found the time to direct a successful little league program, a duty which saddled him the responsibility of moving the National Little League Park. Somehow, he reserved enough time to propel the Howard County United Way Campaign to the very brink of success, during which time he functioned both as President and General Manager. Dearl was very active in the AMBUCS serving as president in 1969 and 1970 and was awarded Mr. AMBUC of District 6-A in 1986. Dearl was named Big Spring Man of the Year in 1977. He served as Treasurer of Berea Baptist Church in Big Spring for many years.

Dearl was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Nadine Pittman; daughter-in-law, Maurine Pittman; and his parents.

He is survived by his sons, Randy (Cindy) Pittman of Midland; Dale Pittman of Big Spring, and Gale Pittman of Lubbock; grandchildren, Brandi (Shane) Mitchell of Sherman, Brooke (Greg) Kennedy of Katy, Brock (Stacy) Pittman of Midland, Jessica Pittman of Saginaw, Jennifer Pittman of Big Spring, and Desi (David) Freshour; great-grandchildren, London, Whitley, Hudson, Brenden, Cody, Iris, Eric, Hunter, Mady, Blake, and Kinzy; two special nieces; two nephews; and other extended family.

The Pittman family will receive friends Wednesday, February 6, 2019, from 5-7 p.m. at the Welch Reception Center, 907 S Lancaster Street in Big Spring, Texas. Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 7th at 4:00 p.m. in De Leon Cemetery with Minister Billy Banks and Brother Barry Schahn officiating.
