Celia Lucille Grant Lilley, 91, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2001, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 1, 2001, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Dudley Mullins, pastor of East 4th Street Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. She was born on September 24, 1910 in Roosevelt County, New Mexico, the third child of George and Ella Grant. Lucille moved to the Fairview community with her family in 1916 and attended Moore School. She moved to Big Spring in 1972. She was a graduate of Texas Tech University and a school teacher for 35 years, having taught at R-Bar, Fairview, and at North Ward/Bauer, until her retirement in 1973. She was a longtime member of Prairie View Baptist Church, and in recent years her church affiliation was with East 4th Street Baptist Church. Survivors include two stepchildren, Gailya Lewis of Olton and Donnie Lilley of Purcell, Oklahoma; three step granddaughters; one brother, Jack Grant of Houston; and three sisters-in-law, Laura Grant of Houston, Inez Grant and Inez Shivers both of Big Spring. Lucille was fondly known as Aunt Sissy to her nieces and nephews for whom she provided constant nurturing care and encouragement. Those are: Jerry Grant of Cedar Hill, Patsy Guinn of Ft. Worth, Bobby Grant of Jay, Florida, Gary Grant, Koila Strickland, Celia Williams and Linda Davidson all of Big Spring, George Ryan of Little Rock, Arkansas, Camella Ryan of Addison, Jane Rowland of Dallas, Sue Carey of Farmers Branch, Greg Ryan of Midland, Cindy Kurtz of Houston, Cathy Wilson of Granbury and Nelson Grant of Santa Fe. She was preceded in death by husbands, Byron Daniel and Raymond Lilley and by four brothers and one sister, Carl Grant, Haskell Grant, Jeff Grant, Jim Grant, and Zan Ryan. Pallbearers will be nephews and grand nephews. The family suggests memorials to East 4th Street Baptist Church, 401 East 4th Street, Big Spring, Texas 79720 or the donor's favorite charity.
