Bonnell Armistead Van Husen, passed away on January 6, 2019 in Midland, Texas. She was born January 12, 1925 on the Scott Ranch in Callahan County, Texas. Her parents were Georgeann Grimes Armistead and Mabin Willard Armistead. In 1929, her family moved to Fort Stockton where Bonnell was raised and educated. On June 2, 1946 she married George Corwin Van Husen in the First Methodist Church of Fort Stockton. They moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan. After her husband’s graduation they moved to Santa Monica, California and then to Midland, Texas in the fall of 1948.Bonnie joined the First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 17 years and as an elder. She was active in Community Bible Study, the Colonel Theunis Dey Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America. She enjoyed Bible study, cooking, photography, travel and, most of all, spending time with her family.She is survived by her three sons, Robert and his wife Laura; James and his wife Pamela; and Thomas; her sister Nancy Baker; her brother, John Armistead and his wife Barbara. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Russell Van Husen and his wife Kelly; David Van Husen and his wife Alicia; Christy Youens and her husband Justin; and Kelly Van Husen; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, her parents, her brother Mabin Armistead Jr., and three sisters, Virginia Anderson, Joyce Schroeder, and Laura Riggs.Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church of Midland, 800 W. Texas Ave., Midland, TX 79701, Hospice of Midland, or a charity of your choice.Family services will be held at First Presbyterian Church at a later date.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
