Avis Odell Woods Cox, 89, of Ecuador, formerly of Big Spring, died January 22, 2019 in Ecuador. An inurnment service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Rev. Mark Winn officiating.

Odell was born December 17, 1929 to Driscoe and Lily Woods in Mercury, Texas. She married Edwin H. Cox January 25, 1948 in Santa Ana, Texas and he preceded her in death April 21, 2010.  She was a lifetime resident of Texas, moving to Cuenca, Azuay, Ecuador in 2014.  She loved the adventure of calling a new country home.  She was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother and grandmother, and most importantly, a woman after God’s heart.

She is survived by five children, Cary Cox, Edwin “Skeeter” Cox, Jr., Judy Cox Wright, Sherri Cox Franklin and Wayne Cox; seven grandchildren, Byron Cox, Melanie Cox Gutierrez, Nicole Wright Jones, Chase Wright, Cassi Wright Walden, Shelby Franklin and Logan Franklin; five great-grandchildren, Nathan Jones, Kenzi Walden, Tesli Walden, Kylan Walden and Bronx Osborne; and her siblings, Otis Leroy Woods, Billy Norman Woods and Carolyn Elizabeth Woods Stone.

Odell was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Wilma Faye and Lonnie Knutson; two sisters-in-law, Eva Woods and Billie Ruth Woods; a brother-in-law, Bill Stone; and a grandson, Lenny Cox.
