Troy Dennis Lesley was born on March 5, 1945 to Frances (Burris) Lesley and Pvt. Foy E. Lesley, at Station Hospital, Midland Army Air Field, Midland, Texas.Troy graduated from Midland High School in 1963. He enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard in 1962 and served until 1970 when he was honorably discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant. Troy worked as an electrician, and started his own electrical business, Lesley Electric, in Midland, Texas.In 1986, Troy’s life drastically changed when he pursued a call to the ministry that he had since a teenager. He attended Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where he met his wife of 32 years, Barbara, and they completed two years of pastoral training. They went on to pastor two churches, one in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and the second in Ralls, Texas, until 2001, when they moved back to Midland.In 2003, at 58 years old, Troy chose to pursue another career, which was in law enforcement. He became an officer with the Odessa Police Department and served nine years, leaving the OPD as a Sergeant. As per usual, he never settled and was always up to a challenge, so he applied for and became a member of the S.W.A.T. team while serving with the Odessa Police Department. Troy had the notoriety for the oldest member on S.W.A.T. In 2014, he began working for the Midland County Sheriff’s office, and served as a Relief Bailiff within the Midland County courts. He was very proud to serve in every area of law enforcement, touched the lives of many, and excelled at all he did.Troy’s interests included riding his Harley, traveling, and involvement in Ham Radio. He was also the local contact for the Midland area for Military Amateur Radio Service (MARS). His past interests included scuba diving, golfing, and being a licensed pilot.Troy Dennis Lesley was preceded in death by his Father, Foy E. Lesley, and Mother, Frances (Burris) Lesley.He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lesley, daughter, Tammie Lesley, and son, Anthony Lesley; six grandchildren, John Faught (wife, Tuesdey), Elizabeth Morin,Emily Hanson, Michael Lesley (Lindsey Walker), and John Lesley; and six great-grandchildren: Hallie Faught, Poppy Morin, Jonah Avena, Kiara Lesley, Creedence Lesley, and Lydia Lesley; and his two brothers, Danny Lesley (wife, Barbara) of Abilene, Texas, and Alan Lesley of Midland, Texas.Troy Dennis Lesley loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus, served God wholeheartedly, and was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.A celebration service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. at Living Way Foursquare Church, 415 Alta Ave., Midland, Texas.Troy’s family would like to express their gratitude to each and every one for every prayer, all of the love, and your condolences.
