Ted R. Baughn of Midland Texas passed away peacefully at his home, shortly after midnight, on April 12, 2018, with his daughters by his side.

Ted, aka “TR”, was born on October 4th Nineteen hundred and forty two, in Oklahoma.

He left this world, joining Leta, his beloved wife of 35 years. Loving her from grade school forward, their LOVE and DEVOTION was admired by all who knew them.

“The Best Father in the World”…just ask his two girls!

After graduating high school in Hobbs, NM, he continued his education at New Mexico Junior College, and the University of Texas at El Paso, Texas.

As early as Ten years old, he began working….first at the Trolley Cafe that his mother and father owned in Hobbs, NM. Continuing to take on jobs that helped him grow into the man that lay to rest this day. A man of honor, integrity, compassion, kind and genuine. One who believed that working hard was expected by all, and accomplishments are shared. He believed that taking GOOD care of your family, was the definition of success.

A shake of a hand was as good as a contract with Ted. To this very day, he continues business with friends that were made throughout his lifetime of hard work.

A man of great compassion, kindness and generosity. He believed in helping others….teaching them to help themselves. An unexpected Mentor at times….teaching others many things that he had learned throughout his life.
Always wanting others to succeed for themselves, and for their families. He learned the hard way, (as in hard WORK and commitment)……grooming many drivers, employees, and passers through……People aren’t what they used to be, he’d say….however he still enjoyed sharing his wisdom, and applied skills -for those willing to work hard too!

A man with a sense of humor! Even as he was processing his final day, shifting to become comfortable…..the girls said: “We love you daddy”….without missing a beat, he said “I love ME too”!

Owner of Lee-R’s Enterprise INC, Lee-Co Coating ENT, and Teda INC….which he started over 40 years ago, and are still up and running with continued success. Always applying knowledge from previous business adventures – his skills were unique and diverse. From his partnership with Harold Farley in ARD’s Country Store…..to hauling truckloads of dynamite, back in the day.
Some of his memorable endeavors include Apex Freight Co., Basin Field Service, Submersible Oil Services, LP
His knowledge and memory continued to amaze many people. Afraid that the SmartPhone would make him less smart….he procrastinated to get on board with that technology as long as possible……and continued to memorize numbers, names, places…..even when he upgraded technology.

He loved to stay mentally stimulated….whether it be The Bible, or The Constitution of the United States of America…..you’d better be up on your facts….those are two documents that meant a lot to Ted, and he could debate each one with articulate skill.

Work hard, save early for your family…..but most importantly be honest in what you do, and happiness will always find you.

He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda and RaMona Baughn and Charlye Parker all of Midland; sister-in-law, Donna Burt of Hobbs, NM; Nephew, Dan Hakata of LAS Vegas, NV; Nephew, Paxton LeMond; Nieces Jill Broughton of Wichita Falls Dionne LeMond Massis, Tai LeMond Tipton, Cyndi Frasier, Heather Chrisler; and five cousins, Robbie Black, Fayrene Black, Wanda Titus, Mary Sherwood, Minnie Chamblin

He is preceded in death by his Wife of 35 years, Leta Delores; father, Ted R. Baughn, Sr.; step-father, Sandy Sanford; mother, Myrtle Sanford; sister, Kay Hudnall, and her husband, Willie; brother-in-law, Danny Whitlock; aunt and uncles, Lloyd & Mary Chamblin, Bulah May & Tommy Black, cousins, Bob Chamblin, Pee Wee Black and Jerry McClain

The family would like to express gratitude to all of those who have cared for him….with a special thank you to his long time Doctor PK Patel, and also to Dr. Shylesh Ganta. Both doctors were pivotal in his extended care. Recently joining his team of nurturing caretakers is Rebecca Stephan, of Nurses Unlimited. He couldn’t ask for a better fit. She stepped in and made every day a happier day!
Hospice of Midland also came into care in the last days.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland, 3800 N. Big Spring, Midland, Texas.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 16, 2018, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum, Midland, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Door of Hope Mission, 200 W. 1st Street, Odessa, Texas 79761, or Hospice of Midland.
