Richard (Rick) Etheredge, 74, of Midland, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018. A celebration of his life will begin at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Stonegate Fellowship in the prayer room.Rick was born on August 11, 1944 in the town of Colorado City, Texas to parents William Leto and Cara Etheredge. Rick married Louise Coker on September 3, 1965 in Kermit, Texas. Together, they had two children, Lance and Kristi Etheredge.Soon after marriage, they moved to Abilene, Texas to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in Education at Hardin Simmons. Rick then furthered his education by receiving his Master’s at Texas Tech University. His first teaching job was at Goddard Junior High School during their first years of opening. After Goddard, Rick moved on to Midland High School, Lee High School, and then Lee Freshman High School as a teacher, counselor, Dean of Students, and fellow friend. One of Rick’s greatest legacies was being the first teacher to open up the in school suspension center. He loved high school football, the mighty Lee Rebels in particular. He was also a huge supporter of the Dixie Doll Drill Team, which his granddaughter, Bailey Clepper, participated in for two years. Rick retired from MISD in 2001, after 37 years of service. But he never stopped working until the time of his death.He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and son, Lance. Survivors include his wife Louise, his daughter, Kristi and husband Jon, and his two grandchildren, Bailey and Travis.The family would like to express their gratitude towards Stonegate Fellowship and the many friends he has accumulated over the years.,
