Kirby Claire Collier, 22, passed away on February 26, 2016. Services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 10:30 am at First Baptist Church Chapel in Midland, Texas. There will be a private burial held at Resthaven Memorial Park.Kirby was born January 22, 1994 to Kim and Forrest Collier in Midland, Texas. Kirby was baptized on Mothers’ Day 2002 by Dr. Gary Dyer at First Baptist Church in Midland. She graduated from Midland High School where she was a gifted student and volleyball player. Kirby enjoyed working with children and volunteering in the nursery and during Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church. Kirby loved babysitting and will be missed by the many children who knew her as Miss Kirby. Born with a servant’s heart, Kirby also spent many hours volunteering at the Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals. Kirby attended Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California where she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and had recently been accepted into the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing in Galveston.She is survived by her parents, Kim and Forrest Collier; sister, Ashley Collier; grandparents, Trula Jennings Smith of Houston, Anne Collier of Dallas, Lana and Raye Collier of Dallas; aunt, Julianne and husband, Brad Jennings of Houston; aunt, Blair and husband, Kirk Lechtenberger of Dallas; cousins Caroline Jennings of Houston, Olivia and Wes Lechtenberger of DallasShe is preceded in death by her grandfather, Champney Smith.The family would like to express their gratitude towards the many friends and family who have fervently prayed for Kirby over the last four years, especially the Nehemiah Sunday School Department and to Elizabeth Steele of Northbound Treatment Services in Newport Beach, California.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to The Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals or the Palmer Drug Abuse Program in Midland, TX.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
