Joyce Castor, 76, passed away suddenly in her home on Saturday, July 25, 2015.Joyce was born in Olney, Texas to Tommy and Mattie Lee Cumbie Shoemake on November 12, 1938. The family moved to Snyder, Texas where she grew up. She moved to Midland after a modeling stint in Dallas, where she met her husband, Robert J. Castor. They married on November 14, 1957 and just celebrated their 57 year anniversary last November. They had two children, a daughter, Mica Castor Bergman, and a son, Alan Randall Castor. She has four grandsons that were the loves of her life and all were truly adored by her, Robert Andrew Bergman (Drew), Grant Joseph Bergman, William Spencer Bergman, and Graham Haydon Castor. She lived for her time with her boys and always had their favorite meals or desserts made when they visited, as well as a stocked cabinet of goodies for them. She taught them many things, one of them being how to cook those favorite meals. Her goal was to make sure they always had fun and had adventures at Marnie and PaPa’s and traditions were made for them to carry on to their families.Joyce was a jack of all trades, working as a hairstylist, oil and gas office assistant, interior designer, and later as a realtor and broker until her retirement. What Joyce treasured most was being a wife, mother, and Marnie to her grandsons. She loved to travel, cook, and create art collages, but more than anything else, she loved her family time. She loved sharing her Native American Cherokee history and folklore as well as music and art. She was an active volunteer in many organizations throughout her life. Joyce or Mom or Marnie loved her family and is greatly loved by her family in return. She will be sorely missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Mattie Lee Shoemake; brothers, Howard, Bill, and Steve Shoemake; and her sisters, Barbara Adams Price and Carol Adams. She is survived by her husband, Robert J.
