He was born on July 18, 1952 in Oklahoma to Paul and Martha Jones.The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory, Big Spring, Texas.A graveside service with US Navy Honors will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, July 9, 2018 at Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring, Texas.Jerry served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict and was in the Civil Service for the United States Air Force for 30 years. He loved Alaska and its beauty and freedom. He even built 2 cabins there. He had a do-it-yourself work ethic and the very definition of “Jerry-rigged” represented his approach to many problems.Jerry loved to dance with a beautiful woman. He enjoyed politics and debates. He loved life, family, freedom and his country. He was self-educated and a lifelong learner who was always hungry for more knowledge. Jerry experienced much love and loss in his life.Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sharon Gail Jones, a brother, Ricky Christian, and a half-brother, Nathan Cahoon.Survivors include his two sons, Travis Jones and his wife, Elizebeth, of Cheney, Washington and Matt Jones of Baltimore, Maryland; two brothers, Kenneth “Rusty” Jones and his wife, Pearl, of Malvern, Arkansas and Melvin Jones of Big Spring; three sisters, Debbie Thompson and her husband, Joe, of Big Spring, Denise Huitt and her husband, Quert, of Brady and Sarah Tyrrell and her husband, Tommy, of San Angelo; two grandchildren, Elissa Jones and Kessa Jones and a large extended family.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the NRA, www.nra.org.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
