Reverend J. B. Hardeman 93 of Big Spring passed away November 13, 2013 at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Coahoma cemetery.J.B. was born in Pittsburg, Texas to Augusta Turner and Lillard Hardeman. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1947 during WWII in both the German and Pacific Theaters. He later moved to Big Spring, TX and worked as Civil Servant for the Webb Air force Base until the early 60‘s.After this, he was self employed and operated The Last Word restaurant for some time. He finally found his calling as the “Watermelon Man”, selling fresh produce in summer and seafood in winter. His favorite games were dominoes and Uno. He loved to watch the game shows Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. He was also a notary and property owner.He was saved in the Church of God in Christ and later became an ordained pastor. He faithfully made the trip to Memphis, TN National Convention for 50 years before his health failed. At the time of his passing, he was associate pastor at Maranatha COGIC in San Angelo.His motto was “an idle mind is the devil’s workshop”.He married Elva Ruth Keyes in 1964 was her faithful husband until her passing in 1986. He later married in 1996 to Mary Nell White who brought joy back into his life. She passed in 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblingsHe leaves to mourn his passing four daughters and one son, French L. (Joe II), Haywood, Johnny Hardeman of Ft. Worth, Phyllis (Herbert) Moore of Big Spring, Jacquelyn Hardeman and Fiancé Dan Manley of Las Vegas, NV, and Cynthia Hardeman of Spring; five grandchildren, Tymisha Haywood, Lashawn and spouse, Terrence Williams, Joe Haywood III, all of Ft. Worth, Jefery Hardeman of Round Rock, and Aaron Moore of Big Spring; five great-grand children, Teundra Haywood, Chris, Zamiya, Winter, and Mariya Haywood all of Ft. Worth; and loving church family including, W.T. and Sheryl J. Hickman, Leroy Sennette, and Ms. Mozelle Clark and many more family and friends.Special thank you to the dedicated Staff and workers of Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez TSVH, and the Church family of the First Church of the Nazarene, a home away from home.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
