Daniel Harding Collins, Jr, age 90, passed away November 27, 2018. He was born in Cameron, Texas to Daniel Harding Collins, Sr. and Eugenia Wallace Collins August 17, 1928. Harding was educated in Cameron and then entered the University of Texas bent on becoming a Petroleum Engineer. While in college he met Bessie Allen and upon their graduations from UT, they were married in Austin, Texas on April 20, 1950. Their happy marriage lasted 68 years.During their early married years in Midland they were blessed with three children Dana, Dave, and Carolyn and life was ever so sweet. Harding’s family knew him as a gentle and loving man whose patient and understanding ways created beautiful relationships. Never boastful, he was a quiet leader and taught his children to love others by setting a good example of always looking for the best in everyone and striving to do their own best in all that life brought them. He had an inner strength built on his belief in God that led him to seek and appreciate the beauty and majesty of God’s creations. He loved gardening, tennis, his work, friends, and traveling.Harding was employed by Superior Oil Company in 1950 spending many happy and fulfilling years in his chosen profession. All who worked with him respected his sincere dedication to his profession, his honesty, and his integrity in all business dealings. Through the years he worked on many committees and served as both Elder and Deacon in the Presbyterian Church; he was a leader in Cub and Boy Scouts, active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Exchange Club, SIPES, and U.S. Tennis Association.Harding was preceded in death by his parents, his son David Allen Collins, and his brother Wallace Collins. He is survived by his loving wife Bessie, daughter Dana and son-in-law Lance Holland of Midland, daughter Carolyn and son-in-law Denman Cloudt of Campwood TX., and David’s wife Rebecca Collins of North Bend, Oregon, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.There will be a visitation on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. A family celebration of life will be set at a later date.The family would like to thank Dr. Shylesh Ganta, the staff at Legacy Ranch, and Emma Grado for their dear and loving care.Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
