- Edward "Connie" Farris, 61, of Midland, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Hospice Inpatient Unit of Midland Memorial Hospital. Connie was a Christian and a lifelong resident of Midland. His visitation will be on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home in Midland. His funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Chapel in Midland with Rev. Mary Beth Anton officiating.
Connie was born on May 25, 1948, in Midland, Texas, to Gene and Doris Wilson Farris. He grew up in Midland and graduated from Midland Lee High School. He retired from Atmos Energy after 31 years of service and always considered his co-workers to be his extended family. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, son and brother. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing and any activity that kept him outdoors. He enjoyed working with his hands and keeping himself busy. But the ultimate joy of his life was his grandchildren and the time that he spent with them.
Connie is survived by his daughter, Lori Alsup and her husband, Devin of Midland; 2 grandsons, Briggs and Brady Alsup of Midland; his mother, Doris Farris of Midland; his brother, Ray Farris of Spanaway, Washington; his sister, Fonda Martin of Midland; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as friends and loved ones.
Connie was preceded in death by his father, Gene Farris and his brother, Ronnie Farris.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in Connie's name to Hospice of Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702.
