- Marvin L. Standefer, Sr., 80, of Lenorah, died on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Evergreen Cemetery with Jim Standefer and Jody Nix, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at the funeral home.
He was born on January 3, 1930, in Martin County, Texas and married Jewel Golden on March 25, 1950 in Martin County, Texas.
Marvin was a lifelong resident of Martin County and graduated from Stanton High School in 1948. He served in the United States Navy and returned to Martin County and farmed in the Lenorah Community. He served as President of the Class of 1948 Exes Association, had served on the Grady Independent School Board, served on the Martin County ASCS Committee and had served as a Board Member for Wes-Tex Telephone for over 20 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He was a member of the RLDS.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel Standefer of Lenorah; one daughter, Paula Dillard of Midland; two sons, David Standefer of Lenorah and Bubba Standefer and wife, Ami of Lamesa; six grandchildren, Marsha Dillard, Russell Standefer and Melissa Thiboudeaux all of Midland, Summer Ayers and husband, Kirk of Odessa, Jody Kidd of Midland and Ashley McClanahan and husband, John of Waco; ten great grandchildren; a brother & sister-in-law, Jim and Devorah Standefer of Temecula, California; and two sisters, Sue Riddings and husband, Max of Independence, Missouri and Gene Zemom of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Oradell Standefer; one brother, Morris Glen Standefer; a nephew, James Glenn Standefer; and a great-granddaughter, Kamra Ayers.
