- Nolan Stanley, 97, of Midland, formerly of Big Spring, died on Thursday, February 18, 2010, in a Midland nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring with Ralph Anderson, Terry Weir and Scott Kenney, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 7 PM Friday at the funeral home.
He was born on May 7, 1912, in San Saba, Texas and married Daisy Louise Graves on January 20, 1936 in Winters, Texas. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2002.
He moved to the Luther Community in 1943 from Winters and farmed for many years, retiring in 1965. He then worked in the Big Spring State Hospital Post Office until retiring in 1974. Nolan enjoyed playing dominoes, hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. He was a member of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons & daughters-in-law, Marcus and Dolores Stanley of Midland and Lynn Dale and Joyce Stanley of Hutto; three brothers, Delbert Stanley and Dealon Stanley both of Big Spring, and Quinton Stanley of Sugar Land; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Boubek; and a grandson, Kurt Boubek.
