Shirley J. Eaton, 78, of Midland passed from this life Sunday, February 14, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Crestview Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Monday, at the funeral home. Officiating is grandson Samuel Eaton, assisting is Dr. John Gerlach, Pastor of Crestview Baptist Church.

She was born in Wilson, Oklahoma on June 26, 1931 to Roy A. and Sylvia Bunt. She was married to Wilburn W. Eaton on March 14, 1953 in Midland. She was the Salutatorian for the graduating class of 1949 at Midland High School. She was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she was married and also celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary. Later she attended and was a member at Crestview Baptist Church in Midland. She enjoyed cookies and candy making including making "Candy Cane Cookies" with her children and later her grandchildren. She had a servant heart and worked in many church service projects. She enjoyed singing, crafting, playing cards and board games and all the joys of being the best mother and wife that she could be.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Wilburn W. Eaton, her grandson, Joshua Jacob Jones and both parents, Roy A and Sylvia Bunt. Also preceding Mrs. Eaton were her sisters Viola Hebert, Vyonne Kardokus, Frankie Moore, Wanda Miles, Sonja Cooper and her brother, Roy A. Bunt Jr.

She is survived by her two sons, Ron Eaton and wife Laura, Rick Eaton and his wife Sherry, a daughter, Joyce Jones and her husband Robert. Mrs. Eaton is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also surviving Mrs. Eaton is one sister, Jeanie Stump and brothers and sister-in laws, John and Geneva Eaton, Audrey and Andy Ewing and Yolanda Bunt.

Pallbearers are Jeremy Jones, Robin Gasch, Sam Eaton, AJ Eaton, Seth Eaton and Shaw Eaton. Honorary pallbearers are Cerise Powers and Amanda Eaton.
